A Squirrelly Bouquet For The Holidays

Visiting friends for Thanksgiving this pretty holiday bouquet caught my eye.

These holiday flowers are very pretty the pine and the bushy tail.......Bushy Tail???

It is a squirrely bunch of flowers!

smelling the flowers....

Someone else wants to come and play in the holiday flowers.

I am out of here!!

Ah the safety of an old fishing hat.

Is the rat gone?

Sophie the rat looks for her squirrelly friend.

Kitty Oshay beats a hasty retreat as squirrel has no fear of cats.

Squirrel is wild but loves to play.

Meet Squirrel from Gloucester Massachusetts.

This is Sophie the rat. She is a guard rat and is good at scaring away squirrels

Squirrel was rescued as a baby with no mother and is staying with friends until Spring. When the days get warmer a slow release into the wilds of Gloucester is on the agenda. If you ever travel to Gloucester in the future you may meet a very friendly squirrel whose only fear is rats.

JJ,

Even though I've had you on my watch list, I'm never alerted to your articles. I manage by hit or miss ...

Anyway, good to see you and your images!

A mac.-

I haven't had very many articles lately. I can't remember a year when I worked as much as I have this year and I am still going. I guess you have to make hay while the sun shines. Especially when the storm clouds are so obvious.

Thank you for coming to see my article. I get links to your articles in e-mail but my cell phone is too worthless to log on with. I am hoping that Santa will bring me a phone that can log on to NV and make comments so that I won't have to get out a lap top and wireless connection to comment. There is a lot of good phones now that are more than able for the task.

I have really enjoyed your B and W article series.

Fletch- I never had a pet squirrel. They don't seem to get entirely domesticated and stay pretty wild. Somebody took a picture of Squirrel standing on my camera that would have been good for this series. (I am going to have to see if I can get that).

rottlady- They have Great Danes (two big ones), a cat, a rabbit, a squirrel, a few rats and a couple of Chinchillas. The rest were probably just visiting.

ps- Not a complete list.

Was referring to the little critters..MightyJ & the bouquet..not our friends on the Vine & others..
Although, you may be right considering that some are fun when they are squirrelly around others who are not so
squirrelly. I am not a fan of rats or mice only because of the hanta-virus and plague. So you be careful out there..)

CL1- I think Squirrel will do fine going back to the wild. Since home is in a wooded area complete with resident squirrels a return to the wild won't mean much more than going to live in the yard.

Speaking of squirrely... A big warm hello to you young man. :) It's kind of funny I saw your article today as I just saw the return of the squirrels to my backyard this morning. :) The Hawks have hit them hard so haven't seen any for two years. Yea!!! They are back and chattering and running back and forth through the trees. Great photos and nice to "see" you again. (((((((JJ♥))))))))

Sophie is a beautiful rat! These are just the best, JJ. I love menageries of animals. I've had rabbits, hamsters, mice, rats and cats as pets plus we took as many animals home during Winter and Spring break from school. Your photos are such a crack up and that squirrel is a hoot. It will love scampering in the woods but it may come back frequently for visits...if Sophie isn't present!

js- I am glad you liked the pictures. I just got one in e-mail of Squirrel as a tiny baby squirrel when first rescued.

I just found this video while trying to find the word for baby squirrel. Animals adopt each other too.

JJ that video is just swoon material. A baby squirrel was injured by our house and I put it in a cage we'd used for the rabbits. I knew it wasn't going to survive but couldn't stand the thought of it being out in the open. Our old cat that was raised with a mongoose would not budge from the top of that cage until the little squirrel gave up its struggle for life. She wouldn't come into the house so I let her stay with the baby. She let me know when the life had gone from the squirrel. I was touched.

Oh, I love Sophie the rat - she is a darling. I a pet rat and they are the most adorable little creatures. Unfortunately, they don't live very long and are prone to tumors. Mine got one, had it removed (to the tune of $350) but the vet said it would probably come back. It did. The second time, I kept her until she was getting uncomfortable and then had to have her put to sleep. I blubbered like a baby! Abigail was so special!

And the squirrel is adorable!

Shelby- There is a theory that rats have been bred to be prone to tumors and cancer for the purpose of study. One of the other rats has them. They are very gentle creatures and make great pets.

jj! How great to see you again! Been wondering what you were up to. The pictures tell a cute story, I love squirrels and rats. My kids used to have the funniest, huge, white lab rats, they would run under the kid's t shirt hem and back out the sleeves or neckline. Sit on top of the kid's heads, all kinds of stuff, and CHASE the cat! LOL Glad your Thanksgiving was warm and friendly, and I hope the rest of your Holidays will be, as well!

So good to see you! (((((jj))))) ♥
