Pretty Ocean Sky Off of Cape Cod (Desktop Background)

I took this picture off just north of Cape Cod near the tip. The sky is often beautiful here. Last year it felt like working in a cloud factory. I hope you enjoy the image and if you want it for a desktop background just right click on it and hit save picture. In the control panel on your computer is a category called Appearance and Personalization (Windows 7) and on the second line is Change desktop Background from there you should ba able to browse to the location you saved the file to and load it on.

I find looking at the timeless beauty of the sea relaxing. I wanted to share this with my friends especially the ones that have no ocean nearby.

The view from this image is looking South West toward the land of the Cape.

Photo shop wanted to take the pink out of the ocean but that was the color it was because of the sunset (not shown).

We are 3 miles off of Cape Cod as I type this and it is time to start what is probably the last day of the herring fishery here for 2011.

I see you have begun to intuitively place the horizon on one of the compositional thirds ... excellent! I have watched your images steadily progress forward ... well done!

Hi Ish- I think I missed you down in New Bedford. We were just stopping in but some of the herring is going to the factory there so we might end up bringing in a load of fish.

Oldfogey- The next morning had a red sky but we took no warning from it cause we are close to the TAC (Total Allowable Catch) in most of the fishing areas. Besides the ocean has been like glass.

Beautiful. ;-)

When you get a chance could you share some photos of mist and fog - at sea.

The fog has rolled in here, this morning, off the Mid-Atlantic coast ...gray mist turning to dense fog at times and salty air. It's cleansing in a way. The salty air somehow lifts the mood of permeating mist...

caltha- I did take some pictures of the fog rolling in on us today. It was a thousand foot high wall of fog but I have to go through the pictures and see if they came out any good.

I like fog pictures a lot. (:

Although I was in Cape Cod three times in my life, I don't recall a sky like that. Where I am now, I never see a sky like that.

Soov and Buzz- I was looking at that sky and taking pictures of the sunset. I never even published the sunset images because I liked the feathered clouds over the Cape better.

Thank you for stopping by.

What a beautiful tranquil and peaceful picture. I love Cape Cod. It has always been a majestic place for me. A very famous naturalist writer who truly valued and appreciated nature (Henry Beston) wrote the "Outer Most House" (written with compassion and beauty) about his wildlife observations while living on Cape Cod. I am not sure if the book is still in print, but well worth the find.

Nina- It's funny that as many times as I have seen the land from the ocean I have never actually set foot on Cape Cod. I am going to have to go out there and try the seafood this winter. Maybe they sell that book in one of the little shops. (:
