The Hood Ornament

I hope you like him.
(Warning) He bites a little and you may want to keep a garden hose handy if you feed him any herring.

Sunset in the North Atlantic

Me and the bird sailed into this sunset. I think he liked me cause he only pooped on the bow of the boat once. (All seagulls love herring boats :)

There is nothing like sailing into the sunset with a belly full of herring (in the case of the bird.......or the boat.......)

Beautiful. A person could really get some perspective out there with nothing but water as far as the eye can see...and that sunset lighting it all up.

"garden hose handy...." Laughed out loud on that one! From personal experience, the worst garden hose experience comes when about 50 bald eagles use the boat for a roost, while 'lightening' their load.:>)

Absolutely love it! Especially the first image - how the sun's reflection off the water frames the bird's silhouette.

JJ, I hear this is your new group...you can gift it to other Viners, no CoH violations for the "act." True? Or just wishful thinking?

Bootiful pictures JJ. Such a pretty sunset - no wonder the bird wanted to sit and watch it with ya. Be careful out there.

I think he liked me cause he only pooped on the bow of the boat once.

Is that why they call it the poop deck? Nice pictures JJ.

Are seagulls edible?

I've heard they taste like a mixture between bad duck and rotten fish. They are the garbage men of the coastline and I don't think you want to know what they eat sometimes.

Yeah, I bet there are kinds of nasty, but edible, things to be found along the coast, but at least there are crabs and fish for them to eat. I wouldn't even think about touching a gull that lives inland....

They mob our county landfill probably by their thousands. If you live between there and he coast you get to see the daily migration in the morning and evening. I'd have to be literally diying of starvation before I'd eat one of them.

Blecckk - that sounds like it would taste awful - seagull. Yuck. But if a person was hungry enough well then.....
